Rehearsal and Backstage

C for Clowns, a play, is considered a first of its kind on Indian stage. It was a show created completely out of improvisation on the rehearsal floor ; Where six clowns trace a day in the life of a circus/theatre performance. The act included mime, pantomime, acrobatics, dance, and the spoken language of “Gibberish”.  The Play was based on an actor’s experience on and off stage.

With house full, each and every time it was performed, C for Clowns is considered to be one of the most successful plays ever.

This photo essay is a documentation of the rehearsal at actor Rajat Kapoor’s residence and then in the green room of Prithvi theatre, Mumbai.

Its last show was performed on Feb 20, 2009.

Acting Clowns – Vinay Pathak, Ranvir Shorey, Rajat Kapoor, Atul Kumar, Sheeba Chaddha.
